Job Title: Paralegal / Legal Secretary & Intake Coordinator (Temp-to-Hire)
Location: San Jose, CA | In-person
Hours: 8:30 AM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $40+/hour (commensurate with experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Temp-to-Hire

About the Role

Our client, a busy plaintiff-side personal injury law firm, is seeking a skilled and versatile Paralegal or Legal Assistant/Secretary who can also serve as an Intake Coordinator. This position offers a great opportunity for a seasoned legal professional to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a client-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys in personal injury matters
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings
  • Calendar and manage deadlines, court dates, and appointments
  • Coordinate case files and maintain client records in case management systems
  • Handle new client intake: respond to inquiries, gather preliminary information, and coordinate consultations
  • Act as the first point of contact for potential clients, ensuring a positive and professional intake experience
  • Maintain communication with clients, medical providers, and other third parties
  • Support the legal team with discovery, demand letters, and trial preparation when necessary
  • Answer phones / in-take

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a law office setting required
  • Personal Injury – Plaintiff experience is a must
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and calendaring rules
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Comfortable working with clients and handling confidential information
  • Proficiency with legal case management software and MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
