Mental Health Specialist – Behavioral Health Call Center
We are seeking a compassionate Mental Health Specialist to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and care coordination to individuals facing behavioral health challenges. This role ensures callers receive timely, empathetic, and effective support.
Responsibilities
- Answer crisis helpline and provide support to callers
- Conduct screenings and risk assessments (e.g., suicide risk, substance use)
- De-escalate crises and develop safety plans
- Connect individuals to appropriate services and community resources
- Make clinical decisions, including dispatching emergency services when needed
- Provide referrals and follow-up to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Educate and advocate for clients’ needs
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
- NYS LMSW or LMHC required
- 2+ years of experience in behavioral health or crisis intervention
- Strong clinical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle high-stress situations professionally
- Experience with EHR systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred
- Knowledge of NYC/Rockland County services and systems of care
- Familiarity with OMH, OPWDD, and OASAS standards
- Call center or telehealth experience
Pay Rate: $45 per hour
Schedule: 3PM-11PM Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday
