JOB SUMMARY:
The Dispatcher will be responsible for supporting a security initiative program. This involves assisting with scheduling, and dispatching staff to various posts. This is a long term temporary position.
JOB DUTIES:
- Receiving on-duty and off-duty call-ins from all guards and supervisors assigned to specific posts
- Maintaining daily attendance of all guards and supervisors to validate hours billed by guard contractor at the end of the month
- Liaising with guard contractor to fill security posts that become vacant at the start of and during tours
- Creating daily tour rosters of guards and their post assignments
- Recording and maintaining accurate records and documentation of all call and incident activity (malfunctions, guard assaults, crimes, medical, etc.) from guards and supervisors and entering information into a database
- Generating timely security incident notifications, as well as daily, weekly, and monthly reports related to the Security Initiative
- Ensuring that all guards are in possession of proper passes and safety vests
- Monitoring inspection reports
- Processing basic system administration tasks that support daily operations and security functions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in both written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to collect and interpret data effectively from verbal and written sources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, and other applications
- Ability to type 40 words per minute (wpm) while communicating
- Ability to work in a multi-faceted, fast paced and high intensity emergency environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor
- Proven superior event/task prioritization, organizational, and analytical based reporting skills
- Proven ability to make critical decisions based on current data, past experiences, and business rules
- Proven ability to effectively complete multiple critical parallel/concurrent tasks (multi-tasking)
EDUCATION
- A high school diploma or its equivalent from an accredited institution.
- 1 to 3 years of full-time paid work experience in a security related position, and/or in a dispatching/command center environment
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work rotating and/non-conventional hours (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, etc.)
- Ability to be required to work overtime if needed
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Previous experience as an alarm dispatcher/operator
- Previous experience in transportation
- Geographical familiarity with the New York City Metropolitan region
HOURS/SHIFTS:
1st Shift (M-F) 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
2nd Shift (M-F) 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
3rd Shift (M-F) 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Weekend Shift (Part -time) – Sat / Sun – 4 Hours per Day
This shift may increase in hours and individuals if needed.
