Description

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Temporary-to-Hire Peer Advocate to join their team at their Brooklyn, NY location. In this role, you will provide peer support and advocacy to individuals on their recovery journey by helping them access community resources, develop recovery goals, and remain engaged in treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support and encouragement to individuals in recovery.
  • Build trusting relationships and help clients stay engaged in treatment.
  • Assist clients in setting and achieving personal recovery and wellness goals.
  • Connect clients with housing, healthcare, employment, benefits, transportation, and other community resources.
  • Accompany clients to medical, court, housing, and other appointments when needed.
  • Facilitate peer support groups and recovery-focused activities.
  • Provide emotional support during crises and report safety concerns to clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with counselors, healthcare providers, and case managers to coordinate services.
  • Conduct outreach, schedule appointments, and follow up with clients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.
  • Protect client confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and required training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is a must.
  • Current or eligible for New York State Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) certification.
  • 2 years of experience supporting individuals in recovery.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with electronic health records is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in community, residential, medical, and court-related settings.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
