Nonprofit Development Associate

Location: New York, NY | Employment Type: Full-Time

A mission-driven community organization in Manhattan is seeking a Nonprofit Development Associate to support fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, and community engagement efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role assists with donor relations, event coordination, campaign execution, and engagement activities that support organizational growth and long-term fundraising goals.

This position is ideal for a professional with 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or events who enjoys relationship-building, project coordination, and working in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Support

  • Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and annual giving initiatives
  • Support donor cultivation and stewardship efforts through outreach and relationship management
  • Maintain accurate donor records, pledge tracking, and engagement history within CRM systems
  • Generate reports to monitor fundraising activity and identify engagement trends
  • Conduct donor and prospect research to support outreach strategies and pipeline development

Event Planning & Campaign Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics for fundraising and community engagement events
  • Manage timelines, guest lists, vendors, invitations, and event communications
  • Support annual signature fundraising events and donor recognition initiatives
  • Assist with sponsorship outreach and special fundraising projects
  • Collaborate across departments to enhance participant and member experiences

Member Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Support strategies that strengthen community participation and donor retention
  • Maintain regular communication with members, volunteers, and stakeholders
  • Assist with engagement initiatives that promote recruitment and long-term involvement
  • Help foster a positive and welcoming member experience

Marketing & Communications

  • Collaborate on campaign materials, invitations, and donor communications
  • Assist with print and digital content related to fundraising initiatives
  • Support website updates, recognition materials, and outreach publications
  • Coordinate messaging related to events and engagement activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Approximately 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, events, or community engagement
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Experience working with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating across teams
  • High level of professionalism and discretion with sensitive information
