Description
A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to grow within a mission-driven organization while supporting a wide range of financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong accounts payable experience, excellent analytical skills, and knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable processing using accounting software
- Analyze, code, and process vendor invoices for payment
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors and resolve payment inquiries
- Prepare and process journal entries
- Reconcile credit card transactions and accounts
- Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and grant compliance
- Prepare and file 1099 forms
- Support additional accounting and financial operations functions as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- CPA designation is a plus
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and nonprofit accounting procedures
- Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and SUMIFS
- Experience with financial software applications; Financial Edge experience preferred
- Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
