Position Summary

The Dining Services Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the main kitchen. This entails all staffing concerns, sanitation needs, and coordinating all food production for the Pavilion and Assisted Living, as well as employee dining under the direction of the Executive Chef and the Director of Dining Services. As a representative of the Dining Department and of the organization, it is required that the Dining Services Supervisor perform the essential functions of the job in a professional manner, with a positive attitude.

Dining Management

  • Smooth and orderly running of all day-to-day departmental operations pertaining to Pavilion & Assisted Living areas, as set forth by departmental policies and procedures including staff disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Ensure that all sanitary guidelines are strictly met in all facets of production and maintenance.
  • Assure that all shifts are properly staffed and scheduled; if not, adequate coverage is arranged and area supervisors notified.
  • Maintain all daily records, including the accurate and complete production of tray line tickets, through the use of the electronic system.
  • Ensure that all activity-related functions are prepared and delivered in accordance with daily schedule of events and in accordance with all special requests.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of all department training initiatives to support departmental and facility-wide goals.
  • Participate in the hiring process by interviewing candidates and making hiring decisions.
  • Prepare and conduct 90-day and annual performance evaluations.
  • Discipline/counsel employees as needed.
  • Oversee time and attendance issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must possess the ability to work with others in the organization.
  • Minimum of 2 years foodservice experience, healthcare preferable.
  • Have ServSafe Managers certification.
  • Must display patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and excellent organization skills to manage workload.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and manage others.
  • Must exhibit personal integrity and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Must be willing to handle residents based on whatever cognitive level they are currently functioning.
