Mid-Level Litigation Associate (Confidential Client)

Our client, a highly regarded law firm, is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate (3–4 years) to join its San Francisco office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to take on greater responsibility, direct client interaction, and meaningful involvement in complex, high-impact matters.
This role offers exposure to commercial litigation, regulatory enforcement, and public law matters, working closely with experienced partners in a collaborative, high-performing environment.
The Practice
The firm’s litigation practice includes:
- Commercial and corporate disputes (contracts, fiduciary duty, business torts)
- Partnership, shareholder, and governance disputes
- State and federal regulatory investigations and enforcement actions
- Administrative proceedings and challenges to agency action
- Appellate work and pre-litigation strategy
Attorneys work on lean teams and play visible roles in matters involving expedited proceedings, injunctive relief, and significant financial or operational stakes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cases and discrete litigation components with increasing independence
- Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and substantive briefs
- Oversee discovery and motion practice
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and strategy sessions
- Collaborate with partners on litigation strategy and case development
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and regulators
- Take ownership of key workstreams and support efficient case management
Qualifications
- 3–4 years of litigation experience (state and/or federal court)
- Background from a leading law firm, boutique, or government practice preferred
- Experience with dispositive motions and discovery
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters effectively
- Interest in both commercial litigation and regulatory/public law
- Active California Bar admission (or ability to obtain promptly)
- Judicial clerkship or government experience is a plus
