Remote Litigation Attorney – Insurance Defense (CA Licensed)
Location: Remote (California Bar Required)
Compensation: Approximately $50/hour
Schedule: 20–40 hours/week, based on workflow demand

On Call Counsel is seeking 2–3 experienced litigation attorneys licensed in the state of California to support a high-volume caseload involving insurance claims filed against major insurance carriers. This is a remote, contract-based opportunity offering flexible hours (20–40 hours per week) depending on current case demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft responsive pleadings, including responses to objections, motions, and motions for summary judgment (MSJs), that meet both state and federal court standards
  • Conduct legal research to identify relevant case law supporting responsive pleadings
  • Review filed pleadings to accurately determine the appropriate response strategy and content
  • Prepare compelling, persuasive legal documents that reflect a deep understanding of procedural rules and substantive legal issues

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in the state of California (in good standing)
  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills
  • Experience drafting high-quality pleadings in civil litigation, particularly in insurance defense
  • Strong research skills and the ability to quickly synthesize complex legal concepts and case facts
  • Familiarity with both California state and federal court procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience clerking for a judge or court
  • Experience with insurance litigation or defense work
  • Submission of a writing sample is strongly encouraged
