We are working with a client in Nassau County who is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to work on a temporary basis for a 6-8 month assignment. The ideal candidate must have accounts payable experience, accustomed to working in a fast paced environment along with excellent communication skills and computer skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Accounts Payable Supervisor with daily operational tasks and reporting
- Compare vendor/subcontractor invoices to purchase orders or contracts to verify quantities, price, payment terms, freight charges, extensions, etc. Compute discounts, make sales/use tax determinations and place invoices in line for payment
- Match Invoice, purchase orders, and signed proof of deliveries from high volume vendors; as well as review and reconcile these accounts
- Enter approximately 1,000 invoices/month for payment into Sage300
- Prepare and distribute certain invoices for approval and to fix purchase orders in Sage300
- Liaise with vendors and purchasing department to resolve discrepancies
- Obtain approval on exceptional charges (freight, price discrepancies, etc.)
- Review and reconcile vendor account statements
- Run monthly cash requirement reports, and check run for assigned vendors
- Prepare and process daily Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT) and ACH payments
- File monthly payments, invoices, packing slips and shop notices
- Print, process, and type correspondence, checks, and daily/weekly/monthly reports as needed
- Pull copies of invoices with all back-up as requested
Requirements:
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and maintain a high level of organization in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service skills with effective communication and professionalism
- Experience with effective problem-solving techniques
- Strong mathematical skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute various rates, ratios, and percentages
- Experience with Sage300 and Excel is highly desirable
