The Program Director oversees the daily operations of a congregate care residence under the supervision of the Managing Director. This role is responsible for building operations, staff supervision, resident services, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and facility maintenance while ensuring residents are treated with dignity and respect.
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring five days per week with on-call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee building operations, maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Manage admissions, referrals, and vacant unit intake in compliance with fair housing and program requirements
- Ensure compliance with NYS DOH, NYC DOHMH, DOB, FDNY, and other regulatory agencies
- Oversee rent/program fee collection and annual recertifications
- Maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff in partnership with HR
- Manage staffing schedules and ensure adequate program coverage
- Monitor budgets and on-site financial records
- Assist with policy development and emergency procedures
Resident Services
- Ensure residents receive appropriate case management, personal care, and recreational services
- Respond to resident concerns, emergencies, and crisis situations
- Oversee meal service operations with Food Services Director
- Maintain safe, clean, and welcoming common areas
- Protect resident rights and maintain quality standards of care
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a related setting
- Experience working with older adults, mental illness, chronic medical conditions, and/or homelessness preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills
- Experience with Yardi, RealPage, or similar systems preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Must meet NYS DOH approval requirements
