Controller (Consulting) – Nonprofit | Fully On-Site | Upper West Side, NYC
We’re partnering with one of our top clients, a respected nonprofit organization in the Upper West Side, to identify a Controller (consulting/temporary) with strong nonprofit accounting experience.
This is a hands-on role supporting leadership through month-end close, reporting, and audit preparation. Ideal for someone who thrives in mission-driven environments and can step in quickly to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial reporting package for leadership
- Manage general ledger activity including journal entries and reconciliations
- Perform bank and investment account reconciliations
- Oversee cash receipts and related reconciliations
- Prepare sales and use tax filings
- Support audit readiness including Form 990 preparation
- Assist with state and city audit processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Nonprofit / not-for-profit accounting experience required
- Experience within education institutions or charter schools highly preferred
- Hands-on experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge
- Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in an on-site environment
