Senior Project Accountant (Construction)

Location: Fresh Meadows, Queens, NY
Schedule: Full-Time Onsite

Position Overview

An established real estate development and construction organization is seeking a Project Accountant to support a large-scale residential build in the New York City area. This role partners closely with senior project leadership and plays a key part in both financial oversight and operational improvement efforts.

This position offers strong visibility and the opportunity to contribute beyond core accounting responsibilities. The individual will help refine internal processes, enhance reporting workflows, and support the continued build-out of a more structured project accounting function.

Responsibilities

Manage financial tracking and reporting tied to an active construction project.

Monitor budgets, costs, and forecasting to support project performance.

Coordinate payment processes, including subcontractor invoicing and documentation.

Maintain accurate project financials and deliver timely updates to leadership.

Assist in developing and standardizing internal procedures and best practices.

Identify and implement improvements across accounting workflows and controls.

Support compliance requirements and assist with internal/external reviews.

Collaborate with project and finance teams to ensure alignment.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in project-based or construction-related accounting.

Exposure to large-scale development or infrastructure projects preferred.

Experience with ERP/accounting systems used in construction environments.

Understanding of cost tracking, project reporting, and financial controls.

Demonstrated ability to improve or streamline processes.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Profile
