Vice President of Behavioral Health

The Vice President of Behavioral Health provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for all behavioral health services at BMS Family Health & Wellness Centers. This includes oversight of outpatient and inpatient mental health and substance use disorder programs, including OASAS Part 820 services. The VP ensures high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally responsive care aligned with regulatory standards, organizational goals, and community needs.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Lead and expand integrated behavioral health services across the organization.
  • Serve on the executive leadership team, contributing to strategy, policy, and performance improvement.
  • Promote collaboration across medical, behavioral health, and social services.

Clinical & Quality Oversight

  • Ensure evidence-based care and clinical excellence.
  • Supervise program directors and clinical leaders.
  • Oversee quality assurance, utilization review, incident management, and performance improvement.
  • Ensure trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally competent care.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OASAS Part 820, OMH, DOH, Joint Commission (if applicable), and other regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee audits, licensing, certifications, and corrective action plans.
  • Partner with compliance and legal teams to mitigate risk.

Operations & Financial Management

  • Oversee program operations, staffing, budgeting, productivity, and outcomes.
  • Monitor financial performance and revenue cycle.
  • Lead program development, grants, partnerships, and workforce planning.
  • Ensure efficient resource utilization and long-term sustainability.
  • Represent the organization with regulators, funders, hospitals, and community partners.
  • Strengthen referral networks and advocate for behavioral health services.

Required Qualifications

  • MSW and active NYS LCSW.
  • CASAC certification.
  • 10+ years of behavioral health experience (inpatient and outpatient).
  • 5+ years of leadership managing OASAS Part 820 residential and SUD programs.
  • Experience in FQHC or safety-net settings and integrated care models.
  • Strong expertise in regulatory compliance, program development, and budget management.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Annualized salary of $180 - $200k
