Estate Planning Paralegal – Deed Preparation

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Hauppauge, NY – Onsite
Salary: $55,000–$60,000 annually

About the Opportunity

An established law firm is seeking an experienced Residential Real Estate Paralegal to join its team. This position has a strong emphasis on deed preparation, deed drafting, recording documents, and title-related matters.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of residential real estate paralegal experience and hands-on experience preparing and recording deeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented paralegal who understands the residential real estate process and is comfortable managing multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft deeds and other real estate documents.
  • Review title reports and identify title issues requiring resolution.
  • Prepare transfer documents, supporting affidavits, and other documentation required for real estate transactions.
  • Coordinate the execution, recording, and filing of deeds and other real estate documents.
  • Handle deed recording and related documentation in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Review and assist with title-related matters throughout the transaction.
  • Maintain complete and organized transaction files.
  • Track deadlines and ensure all required documents and filings are completed timely.
  • Assist attorneys with residential real estate transactions from contract through closing.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, clients, title companies, municipalities, and other parties involved in transactions.
  • Assist with transfer tax filings and other closing-related requirements.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable recording requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of residential real estate paralegal experience.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and recording deeds.
  • Strong understanding of residential real estate transactions and title matters.
  • Familiarity with court and municipal recording requirements.
  • Familiarity with transfer tax filings and related real estate documentation.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple files, deadlines, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, title professionals, and other parties.
  • Proficiency with standard office and legal technology.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $55,000–$60,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
  • Full-time, onsite position in Hauppauge, NY.
  • Medical insurance: The firm pays 80% of the individual employee premium. Employees are responsible for a greater portion of premiums for spouse, child, or family coverage.
  • Dental insurance through Guardian.
  • Voluntary long-term disability and AFLAC coverage available at the employee's expense.
  • 401(k) through ADP available beginning on the first day of employment. The plan is employee-managed, and the employer is not currently making contributions.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a residential real estate paralegal with strong hands-on experience drafting and recording deeds and working through title-related issues. They should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of multiple transactions while ensuring documents, recordings, and deadlines are handled accurately and efficiently.
