Immigration Attorney (Spanish Bilingual) – Remote | Nonprofit Project

We are seeking experienced Spanish-speaking Immigration Attorneys to join a meaningful project supporting a nonprofit organization that provides legal and case management services to unaccompanied children who have recently arrived in the United States.

This is an exceptional opportunity for attorneys who are passionate about immigration law, children's advocacy, and public interest work. In this role, you will help protect the rights of vulnerable children while conducting legal intake interviews that play a critical role in identifying potential forms of immigration relief.

Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary Contract
Initial Contract: 16 weeks, with strong potential for extension through February 2027
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Schedule: Full-time, standard business hours (availability during business hours required)
Location: Remote
Pay Rate: $60/hour + $5/hour completion bonus*

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal intake interviews by phone to gather information related to each child's immigration history and potential eligibility for relief.
  • Interview children in a compassionate, trauma-informed, and age-appropriate manner.
  • Gather information regarding family relationships, living circumstances, immigration history, and other facts relevant to legal representation.
  • Identify facts that may support immigration relief, family reunification, or other legal protections.
  • Accurately document interview findings and maintain detailed case records.
  • Communicate effectively with children who may have experienced trauma, displacement, or other challenging circumstances.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, case managers, and multidisciplinary teams supporting unaccompanied children.
  • Follow established legal intake protocols, organizational procedures, and case management processes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality while exercising sound professional judgment.
  • Manage a full-time caseload with exceptional attention to detail, organization, and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Bar license required.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
  • 2+ years of immigration law experience.
  • Experience conducting legal intake interviews or client intake for immigration matters is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with children is required, preferably with immigrants, asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, or other vulnerable populations.
  • Public interest, nonprofit, or legal services experience is a plus.
  • Strong interviewing, communication, legal research, writing, and case management skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with children using patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving immigrant communities and protecting the rights and well-being of vulnerable children and families.

Compensation & Contract Details

  • $60/hour, +$5/hour completion bonus for attorneys who remain through the full project duration
  • Fully remote
  • Full-time schedule during standard business hours
  • Initial 16-week contract
  • Anticipated start date: August 31, 2026; Strong potential for extension through February 2027, based on project needs
