A Texas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights and well-being of vulnerable immigrant communities is seeking multiple attorneys for a time-sensitive project supporting undocumented minors in Texas shelters.
This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact by helping identify children who may have legal options to avoid deportation and connect them with immigration counsel.
The Role
Attorneys will conduct initial intake and screening interviews in Spanish with undocumented minors residing in Texas shelters. The primary responsibilities include:
• Conducting trauma-informed intake interviews in Spanish
• Gathering key facts regarding each applicant’s immigration and personal circumstances
• Preparing a concise applicant summary
• Building a complete applicant file for escalation to an immigration attorney who will evaluate the case and provide representation
• Identifying matters that may require immediate legal attention or further review
Qualifications
• Licensed and barred to practice in any U.S. state
• 3+ years of immigration defense experience
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Strong interviewing, writing, and case-intake skills
• Experience working with vulnerable immigrant populations and/or minors is highly valued
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
Assignment Details
100% Remote
Target start: August 31, 2026
Initial term: 4 months, with strong potential to extend through February 2027
Rate: $60/hour with an additional $5/hour paid at the end of the project
Minimum commitment: 20 hours/week; 40 hours/week is strongly preferred
