Description

Responsible for providing support for IT issues, including day to day deployment and support of hardware and software. This position also performs advanced telecom, network, and support tasks as part of the Technology Operations effort and plays an important leading role in the datacenter and network infrastructure design and planning.


Responsibilities:

• Responds to and resolves support-related service desk calls as needed

• Installs/upgrades and maintains physical and virtual servers, network devices, and VoIP system

• Communicates and documents common issues and resolutions to other support staff to minimize user downtime

• Communicates and coordinates with senior technical staff to permanently resolve recurring or common issues

• Performs software installations or hardware deployments following standard procedures. Leverages available tools and resources. Coordinates with users to ensure timely delivery following standard SLAs

• Performs system rebuilds and upgrades as needed and follows standard operating procedures

• Leads small scale projects. Provides support and ad hoc resources for larger projects and initiatives

• Gathers requirements from end-users and other key stakeholders to ensure that existing and new technology solutions are in alignment with business needs

• Monitors network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and tests for weaknesses

• Fully supports, configures, maintains and upgrades organizations network infrastructure


Skills:

• Any combination of relevant education and experience and/or related professional designations/certifications in this field are highly desirable

 

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in any of the Information Technology field

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience

• Certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, CISSP or equivalent experience preferred

 

Required Skills/Experience:

• 5-7 years IT support experience with an emphasis in Telecom and Network solutions

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and networking principles Essential Skills

• Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure

• Demonstrated ability to configure and administer virtual servers

• Experience with firewalls, Internet VPNs remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired

• Excellent problem-solving skills and broad understanding of relationships between hardware and applications, and client/server relationships

• Demonstrated ability to probe, diagnose and resolve customer issues

• Excellent listening skills and detail oriented

• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks

• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel

 

Additional Skills:

• Knowledge of Ethernet and other circuit delivery methodologies

• Knowledge of cross-connecting and patching and other data center functions.

• Knowledge of Cisco networking

• Knowledge of cloud technologies

• Knowledge of VOIP

• Knowledge of IT security

• Knowledge with backup and recovery software solutions and methodologies
