Description

A busy MD/OD office is looking for immediate medical assistants/technicians to join the team. The medical assistant/technician will perform various tasks as delegated by the physician to allow for proper professional diagnosis of patients. The ideal candidate will perform these functions in a way that instills patient confidence in the treatment.

Responsibilities:

• Acquaint patients with office procedures
• Obtain patient history • Perform accurate and consistent documentation
• Perform fundus photography
• Perform OCTs
• Assess pupils, confrontation fields, and anterior chamber depth
• Topography
• BAT (brightness acuity test)
• CST (contrast sensitivity test)
• Super pinhole
• Tonopen
• Applanation
• Pachymetry
• Neutralizing
• Glasses prescription
• Scribing/accurately documentation exam
• Assisting in minor surgeries
• Sterilization of instruments
• Clean, stock, open/close exam and work up rooms
• Maintain clean work area and patient areas
• Help and answer questions of other staff
• Help front desk as needed
• Dispose and document biohazard waste
• Escort all patients from the waiting room for the data collection
• Advise the patient as to who will see them next and make them comfortable during the wait
• Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering the test sequence as required
• Communicate with coworkers to facilitate proper patient flow
• Check calibration of equipment and adjust or call for service as necessary
• Assist with ordering and maintain proper inventory of all patient care supplies (bulbs, film, visual field paper, ARK paper, etc.)

Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years’ experience as an ophthalmic technician/medical assistant highly preferred
• Associated certifications highly preferred
• Ophthalmic experience highly preferred
