Our client, a prestigious family law firm based in New Haven, Connecticut, renowned for its dedication to providing exceptional legal services and compassionate support to its clients in complex family law matters is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join its team of skilled attorneys.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Family Law Paralegal with a minimum of 5 years of experience to provide comprehensive support to family law attorneys. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and possess a deep understanding of family law procedures and documentation. You will play a critical role in managing case files, preparing legal documents, and assisting in the strategic development of cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of case files, including maintaining accurate records, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Document Preparation: Draft and review legal documents such as petitions, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements. Ensure all documents comply with legal standards and firm protocols.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates on case status, and address any concerns. Maintain a professional and empathetic approach at all times.
  • Legal Research: Conduct thorough research on legal precedents, statutes, and regulations pertinent to family law matters. Summarize findings and present relevant information to attorneys.
  • Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies. Ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
  • Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and coordinating with expert witnesses.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong focus on family law.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of family law procedures, terminology, and documentation. Familiarity with New Haven and Connecticut-specific family law practices is advantageous.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency in legal research and writing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software. Experience with e-filing systems is a plus.
