Position Title: Development Assistant

Status: Full-Time

Location: On-site, New York City

Hours: Monday -Friday, 9 am - 5 pm

Salary: 60K - 65K

Immediate start

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a Development Assistant for our New York chapter. Successful candidates will have 2-3 years of retail or individual giving experience and the desire to learn, grow in responsibility, and take on major gift projects in the future. The Development Associate is responsible for working with the Chief Development Officer, Digital Giving Officer, and other Development team members to develop and execute strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.   

 

Reporting Relationship: 

The Development Assistant will report to the organization's Chief Development Officer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the CDO, Digital Giving Officer, and other development team members.
  • Tracking and cultivating donors and prospects.
  • Manage a current portfolio of donors and work to grow donations and amount of donors.
  • Create and implement a donor pipeline plan to feed the portfolio
  • Manage donor communication, development support, and direct solicitation.
  • Will grow into Major Gifts stewardship and solicitation over time.
  • Track and report progress.

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate a passion for our mission to bring positive change to the people of India.
  • 2-3yrs of development experience (individual giving, retail giving)
  • Ability to set and execute goals effectively.
  • Attention to detail, proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Application Suites with a high level of general computer competency

 

Key Skills, Competencies, and Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the eradication of poverty in India and alignment with our mission
  • Zeal to learn more about fundraising and development
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including strong business writing
  • Strong follow-up and tracking skills
  • Rigorous attention to detail
  • Desire to learn about all the different channels of fundraising
  • Experience cultivating new and existing donors/customers
  • Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects, and tasks
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability while working in a dynamic environment
  • Good research skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience using donor database Raisers Edge is preferred
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • 2-3 years of experience in non-profit, development, or other related fields
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of products
