James A. Essey, President / Chief Executive Officer Jim Essey
Since joining the company in 1985, Jim has focused the firm on developing a number of niche businesses, heading each with industry experts. He has also been responsible for the closing of 15 acquisitions. Through his efforts, TemPositions is now one of the true full service staffing companies in the market today.
In 2004, Jim was honored by his peers by being elected Chairman of the American Staffing Association (ASA), the industry's national trade association. Prior, he served as Chair of the National Chapter Leadership Council and served for five years as President of the New York Staffing Association (NYSA) where he was a recipient of the NYSA's New Yorker Award, for outstanding service to the industry. Subsequently he served two years as Chairman of the ASA Industry Practices Committee and is now Chairman of the ASA Legal/Legislative Committee.
A noted speaker on staffing issues, Jim is often called upon to comment on labor matters by publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Newsweek, Crain’s New York business and other periodicals. He has appeared on CNBC and NY1. In recognition of his leadership role in the health care staffing industry, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) appointed him to its Task Force to create standards for a new health care staffing certification program.
Jim serves on the boards of the Metro Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), where he heads their Community Participation Program, and the Eastern Region Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program. A strong believer in public education, he served three terms each as president of the Hunter College Elementary and High School PTAs, during the period when his daughter attended the schools. At Hunter, he has been credited for introducing leading edge technology into the schools, including personal computers in all elementary classrooms, laptops for all the teachers and smartboards in every high school classroom. He also spearheaded the effort to renovate the entire facility, including all classrooms, the cafeteria, the schoolyard, the gym and most recently the auditorium. For "creating opportunities that contribute to the growth and development of young people,” he was presented with the Corporate Leadership Award by New York Youth at Risk.
With his wife he has established the James A. and Nina Zakin Essey Fund at the New York Community Trust to assist needy organizations throughout the country.
Prior to joining TemPositions, Jim served in various product management and new business development positions with Clairol, Inc.
He holds a BA from Trinity College (Hartford, CT), a General Course degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an MBA from Harvard University.
Richard Essey, Chairman Richard Essey
Dick founded TemPositions in 1962 after a career in retail, advertising administration and personnel. His goal in founding TemPositions was to provide a flexible work force to meet the demands of rapidly expanding businesses.
He is a past president of both the American Staffing Association (ASA), and the New York Staffing Association (NYSA). He was the first recipient of the ASA Leadership Award, in recognition of his outstanding service to the industry, and was chosen as "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Inc. magazine, recognizing his contributions to the field of human resources.
He is a National Trustee of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALSA) also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, and the founder of The ALSA Bay Area Chapter. To further the research in the field of ALS, he established the Sheila Essey Award for Outstanding Research, an award given at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), and described as the premier worldwide award in the field of ALS research.
Dick serves on the Board of Trustees of the AAN Foundation and also serves on the Board of Governors of The City Club of San Francisco and was inducted into their Heritage Wall of Fame which honors individuals who have greatly impacted the community. He was the founder of the Essey Community Service Internship Program, which places high school students in non-profit organizations during the summer, at no cost to the organizations. For his contributions to the community, he received citations from the Mayor of San Francisco and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
Other non-profit Boards that Dick is a member of include The Museum of Craft and Folk Art, and The San Francisco City Club Foundation, where he is also President. He was formerly a Trustee of the San Francisco Fine Arts Museums.
Dick established the Essey Family Fund, which makes charitable contributions throughout the country with the goal of improving the quality of life for others. Most recently, he was awarded a "FAMMY" Award for establishing the Essey Meal Delivery Program for disabled individuals unable to prepare and shop for food.
Dick received his BS and MBA from New York University, where he established the TemPositions Career Resource Center to assist undergraduate students in their job search process. He delivered the Distinguished Alumni Address at the NYU Stern School of Business Pre-Commencement Ceremonies.
Dave Deacon, Vice President / General Manager
Dave joined The TemPositions Group as Director of Sales and Marketing in 1990. Based on his success in this role, he was named Vice President and appointed General Manager of all East Coast office services. His primary responsibility is to oversee the performance and growth of our various specialty divisions. Serving in this role, he ensures that we are managing our consulting/staffing projects to the required standards that guarantee overall client satisfaction. The company’s success is proof of Dave’s ability to build and lead strong management teams in both sales and operations.
A graduate of Duke University, Dave also holds a Masters from Brown University.
Tom Kennedy, Vice President, Executive Director, TemPositions Health Care and SchoolRN.com
Tom oversees all operations for TemPositions Health Care and its affiliated SchoolRN.com division. He joined TemPositions in 1988, and has extensive experience providing staffing gap analyses for TemPositions Health Care's clients, and developing, implementing and overseeing staffing programs for them. He has built an expert staff to support this mission.
Tom holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, and has previous health care experience in the clinical setting. He also holds the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources.
Kristine Pierce, Vice President of Operations
Kristine supervises operations and all aspects of servicing our clients' needs for the Company's East Coast offices. She joined us in 1995 as a Staffing Consultant in our Melville office and was soon promoted to Branch Manager. After tripling the growth of that office, she was promoted to Director of Operations for our East Coast offices and most recently Vice President of Operations. Her experience has made her a leading expert in managing the recruitment, interviewing, screening, evaluation and placement process for our staffing professionals.
Kristine earned her BS in Behavioral Science at York College.
Kevin Delaski, Vice President / Chief Information Officer
Kevin is responsible for the entire IT arena within TemPositions, which includes the development of our leading edge web-based proprietary software package, IntelliStaff, as well as overseeing hardware and software support for the company system’s internal and external users.
Kevin has a wealth of management experience in the information technology industry. Prior to joining The TemPositions Group of Companies in 2002, he worked for seven years in the publishing industry as lead Software Development Manager for Watchtower, a global non-profit publishing company. Previously, he was IT manager for KD Associates, Inc., an engineering firm based in California. Kevin is responsible for coordinating various HRIS technology projects within TemPositions, including Internet/Web initiatives, the development of our enterprise database system and our back-office accounting system.
He holds a BS in Information Systems from SUNY Empire State College.
Tim Neilson, Director of Sales
Tim is responsible for managing the sales efforts of the TemPositions Group of Companies’ East Coast sales team. Espousing a “consultative approach,” Tim works with his sales staff to help them better identify client needs.
Prior to joining TemPositions, he was the Regional Vice President for the Eastern United States covering Sales and Operations for Snelling Staffing Services. Tim's seven years at Snelling focused on sales and operations for all Corporate and Franchise offices in the Eastern United States, as well as implementation and management of strategic alliances with multiple onsite clients within his region, resulting in over $60,000,000 in annual revenue. Prior to that he worked for several other staffing services, providing a strong background in the industry.
He holds a BA in American Studies from Salve Regina University.
Roger Oliver, Director of Strategic Accounts
Roger joined TemPositions’ sales team in 1998 and is now charged with overseeing the acquisition and servicing of some of the company’s largest and most complex accounts. In spring of 2000, he founded The HR Roundtable, a monthly seminar series providing continuing education for Senior Human Resources professionals of our many clients.
Roger has previous experience in sales and product development in the fashion and software industries. Before beginning his career in sales, Roger worked for Restaurant Associates for their B&I accounts as well as high-end catered events.
He serves on the Board of Governors, in charge of membership, for The Partridge Invitation Scholarship Foundation, a fifty year-old hospitality organization; and is an active member of the Society for Foodservice Management. He also serves in a dual role for Job Path as a member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of their Associate Board.
Roger majored in Creative Writing and Communications at Emerson College.
Nicholas DiLalla / Controller
Nick has been an integral member of the TemPositions’ accounting team since 1983. He has been involved in all areas of our accounting systems, including the development of new systems and supervision of our entire accounting, finance, and payroll staff. In addition, Nick spearheads our internal audit functions and institutes many of our accounting controls.
Nick holds a BA in Accounting from Dominican College.
